Meet Catherine Rivard

Santa Fe insurance litigation lawyer Catherine Rivard

Since 1986 I have represented clients nationwide in disputes involving a variety of insurance products, including general liability, crime/fidelity, workers’ compensation/employers’ liability, directors’ and officers’ liability, first-party property, marine, and title insurance, arising out of such diverse losses as asbestos personal injury, environmental pollution, employment discrimination, intellectual property and white collar crimes.

Early in my career I represented corporate policyholders in all stages of coverage disputes, from initial identification and analysis of potential coverage through tendering of and responding to claims, declaratory relief and bad faith litigation, appeals, and settlement at all stages of disputes. For several years I did the same for insurance carriers, as well as training insurance adjusters in good faith claims handling and providing guidance to adjusters in resolving disputes with insureds over the management of third-party litigation, and gaining valuable insight into insurers’ inside strategies that I now use to help individuals and businesses recover the benefits of the policies for which they paid premiums.

In 2012 I started bicycling, and quickly became a dedicated rider with a passion for century rides (100 miles or more in a single day), which led me to bicycle advocacy and finally to expanding my practice to include the representation of people injured while riding their bicycles, fighting for their rights and fair compensation from careless or reckless drivers and their insurance companies.

I’m a fighter at heart, and ready to fight for you to collect what you deserve when you’ve been harmed by others’ wrongful acts.
